General Interest

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid

Chaffey Adult School, along with the American Red Cross, offers CPR Adult/Child/Infant and First Aid for the lay responder. These courses provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until advanced medical help arrives. The content and activities will help students identify and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions, recognize emergencies, and make appropriate decisions for what care to give. These courses are equal to the American Red Cross community CPR course. Register at either office.

Course Fee is $50 – includes completion card

Courses are held at Alta Loma High School Library at 8880 Baseline Road in Alta Loma.  Classes are held on Mondays at the following times:

  • CPR             4:00 - 8:30 pm
  • First Aid       4:00 - 8:00 pm

Standard First Aid (all ages)
September 17, 2018 * October 29, 2018 * January 28, 2019 * April 22, 2019

 

*These classes meet the requirements for the California Teaching Credential.

Instructional Aide Test Preparation/Academic Assessment

In accordance with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and for those lacking the necessary course or degree requirements, this program assists individuals interested in employment as an "Instructional Aide" or other paraprofessional with local school districts. The cost of the exam is $20.00 and includes 3 hours each of math and English skills review prior to testing. The exam and study sessions are scheduled throughout the semester from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at the adult school's 7th street campus. Participants must register prior to the exam. Special Note: It is the responsibility of the participant to confirm that the exam is accepted by the desired school districts.
 

Community Band

The Ontario/Chaffey Community Band performs for the pleasure of the local community. New members possessing instrumental experience are welcome. The band rehearses on Monday evenings from September-June and monthly concerts are performed in Merton Hill Auditorium, at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Fifth Street in Ontario, and at venues throughout the community.
